Alfred Boldt, 98 of Marion, SD died Friday, August 5, 2016 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Funeral mass will be at 10:30am Monday, August 8, 2016 at St. Marys Catholic Church, Marion with burial at the church cemetery. A Scripture Service will be said at 3:00pm Sunday at the Tieszen Home Chapel, Marion. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Alfred Boldt was born on September 13, 1917 at Chinook, Montana to Henry and Helena (Becker) Boldt. As a young boy he moved with his family to Marion, SD where he attended school. During WW II he served in the US Army Air Corps. On August 1, 1943 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Splonskowski in Yuma, AZ. After his discharge from the service he moved back to the Marion area where he ran a corn shelling business for 28 years and was a school bus driver for Marion Public School for 11 years. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Dorothy; 3 sons, Gordon and Jerald, both of Marion, and Sidney, Brandon; a daughter Nadine (Brian) Dormaier, Sioux Falls; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy (Meta), Amanda, and Tylar; 4 great grandchildren Collin, Nolen, Seth, and Valora; and 1 brother, Robert, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by an infant son Ronald Wayne and three brothers and three sisters. These are Helen, Jake, Bernie, Susie, John and Mary.
