Gertrude A. Fansin, 86, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Golden Living Center, Salem. Funeral service will be at 10:00am Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will be on Tuesday the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a prayer service at 7:30pm Tuesday evening. Gertrude A. Hagemeyer was born on June 7, 1924 at Harrisburg, SD to Louis and Maggie (Johnson) Hagemeyer. On December 1, 1944 she was united in marriage to Russell Fansin in the Chancellor Reformed Church. They farmed for a short time before moving into Parker in 1946. She drove for Yellow Cab and worked as a cook for many years at Ed and Betty’s Café in Sioux Falls until she retired. Her husband Russell died on June 4, 2010. Grateful for having shared her life are 2 daughters, Jeannie Hohn, Sioux Falls and Joyce (Mike) Luke, Hartford; 4 grandchildren, Heather Catrett, Stephanie (Jon) Sundermann, all of Hartford, Jason (Melanie) Hohn, Manteca, CA, and Jeff (Mariah) Hohn, Sacramento, CA; 5 great grandchildren, Miranda, Alyssa, Toralyn, Liam, and Isaac; a brother in law, Ron Fredrichsen, Sioux Falls; sister in laws, Mary Fansin, Parker and Lillian Hagemeyer, Garretson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
