Eloise M. Jones, 83, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her home under hospice care. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am Monday, February 21, 2011 at St. Christina Catholic Church, Parker with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4:00pm Sunday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Scripture Service to be said at 7:00pm Sunday evening at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church. Eloise Marie Zimmer was born on May 7, 1927 at Mitchell, SD to Lawrence and Iva (Mc Andrews) Zimmer. She grew up in the Montrose and Humboldt area, attended country school and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1945. Upon graduation she began her postal career at the Humboldt Post Office where she worked for 8 years until she was united in marriage to Dale A. “Doc” Jones on September 17, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Montrose, SD. They lived in Parker where she was re-instated in the Parker Post Office in 1977 as a clerk and was appointed Postmaster in 1986. She retired as Postmaster at the Parker Post Office in 2007 after 37 years with the postal service. In conjunction with her part-time clerk position at the Post Office, she had been employed by Turner County as the Food Stamp Cashier, Secretary to the Sheriff, and Zoning Administrator for 15 years. She was a member of St. Christina Catholic Church, a 60 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and life member of the VFW Auxiliary. Her husband Dale “Doc” died in 1992. Grateful for having shared her life are 2 sons, Richard and his wife Christine, Sioux Falls and children, Tyler, Amanda, Tom, Dylan, Derek, McKenzie, Matt, and Will, son James “Jim” and his wife Lori, Parker and children Lindsey and Lauren; a brother Jack Zimmer, Bloomington, MN; 2 sister-in-laws, Audrey Meyers, Silt, CO and Marilyn Zimmer, Montrose; and a nephew, Larry (Connie) Zimmer, Montrose. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale “Doc”, a son and daughter in infancy, 2 brothers, Richard “Dick” and Robert “Bob”, and a nephew, Michael.
