Keith P. Jacobus, 77, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be at 2:00pm Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, Parker with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Marion. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Keith Phillip Jacobus was born on January 3, 1934 near Westby, WI to Earl and Matie (Currier) Jacobus. He grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Ontario High School in 1953. From 1953-1956 he served in the US Army, having been stationed in Korea and Japan. After his discharge from the service he attended junior college and graduated from Parsons College, Fairfield, IA with a teaching degree. While in college he worked as a ranch hand in the summer at the Clayton Jennings Ranch. In 1962 he moved to California and taught 5th grade in Huntington Beach. On July 22, 1965 he was united in marriage to Teresa Fitzgerald at Marion, SD. In 1973 they moved to South Dakota, farming near Parker where he milked and later had feeder cattle. His wife Teresa died in 1997. On June 24, 2001 he was united in marriage to Rev. Joan Stary at Parker. They lived on the farm until moving into Parker in 2010. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Parker Senior Citizens where he delivered Meals on Wheels, and VFW Post 2821. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Joan; a sister Roberta Young, Norwalk, WI; his mother-in-law, Anogene F. Stary, Cedar Rapids, IA; the Fitzgerald families; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Teresa.
