Jim Hladky, 71, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral service will be at 10:30am Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Chancellor Reformed Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with family present from 6-8:00pm. James John Hladky was born on January 20, 1940 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Chicago to John and Ann (Wasylyzyn) Hladky. He grew up in Chicago where he graduated from Kelly High School in 1958 before serving in the US Army from 1959-1962, having been stationed in Germany. On September 12, 1964 he was united in marriage to Carol Bosch at Chicago. They lived in Chicago where he was employed as a truck driver for the US Post Office for 31 years. After his retirement he moved to South Dakota where he was employed at the fertilizer plant and managed the Skogen-Peterson Apartments in Chancellor for 7 years. He was a member of the Chancellor American Legion, enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, attending auction sales, and his grandchildren activities. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Carol; a son David (Sondra), Chancellor; 3 daughters, Barbara Schmitz, Ipswich, Patricia (Dave Shires) Long, Joliet, IL, and Elizabeth Hladky, Lockport, IL; and 9 grandchildren, Ronald, Lisa, David, and Michael Schmitz, Heather and Brittany Long, Haley Shires, and Samantha and Cody Hladky. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Janice Miller.
