Betty Friman Kick

Betty Friman Kick, 83 died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg. Funeral mass will be at 10:30am Friday, February 17, 2012 at St. Christina Catholic Church, Parker with burial in the church cemetery. Scripture service followed by the Rosary will begin at 7:00pm Thursday evening at the church. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Beatrice Louise Marso was born January 26, 1929 at Harrold, SD to Frank and Imelda (Feller) Marso. The family moved to Parker where she graduated from Parker High School in 1946. In 1947 she was united in marriage to Eldon C. Friman. She devoted much of her life to raising 10 children and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. Betty had a love of the outdoors and tenderly nurtured her gardens, trees, plants and flowers. She worked for a number of years at the Turner County Courthouse with the energy assistance program. In 1972 she married Marvin P. Kick. Betty was a member of St. Christina Catholic Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She served on the board at Turner Village for serveral years. Grateful for having shared her life are 10 children; Kathy (John) Overby, Viborg, Barb Johnson, Parker, Doug (Libby), Parker, Dr. Tom (Linda), Fairhope, AL, Wendy (Royce) Madsen, Sioux Falls, Clark (Julie), Sioux Falls, Deb (Bob) Masters, Parker, Linda (Alan) Drefke, Parker, Anita (Tom) Koller, Parker, and Steven, Sioux Falls; 23 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; and 11 brothers and sisters, Francis, Sioux Falls, Charles, Shakopee, MN, Charlotte Spader, Howard, SD, LaVonne Tlustos, Hanna, WY, Madonna Crist, Humboldt, SD, Elaine Chmielewski, Becker, MN, Mary Sullivan, Bellevue, NE, Judy Muller, Parker, Marlene Hirsch, Sioux Falls, Vicki Versteeg, Ellis, SD, and Carole Nelson, Colton, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Teresa and Darlene.
