Gladys M. Wek was the fifth of six children born to Oscar and Pauline (Jorstad) Wek on November 17, 1928. She was raised on a farm southeast of Freeman. Gladys received her teaching credentials from Freeman Junior College and Augustana College and taught school in rural Turner County and the Sioux Falls School District. After her teaching career, Gladys worked at the Center for Elder Health at Sanford Heatlh USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Gladys was married to Ed Zulk on July 1st, 1966. She enjoyed spending her time cooking, reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing the piano and visiting family and friends. Grateful for having shared her life are her sisters, Judith Akland (Beresford, SD), Eleanor Gevik (Sioux Falls, SD) and Audrey Bork (Jacksonville, FL); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Lawrence Wek and a sister Evelyn Erickson and brothers in law Dewey Gevik, John Erickson, Melvin Akland and sister in law Marilyn Wek. Private family services will be held with burial at the Salem Community Cemetery, rural Freeman, SD.
