Hurley. Mayme Eva Thompson, 100 died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Hurley with burial in the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm Tuesday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Mayme Eva Peterson was born on June 4, 1911 at Viborg, SD to Jens and Trina (Jensen) Peterson. On June 11, 1932 she was united in marriage to Harry Thompson at Sioux Falls. They farmed in the Hurley area their entire life. She has been a member of the United Methodist Church in Hurley since 1940 and a member of the UMW and a Sunday school teacher. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Home Extension Club, Rebeccah Lodge, and the Hurley Senior Citizens. She and Harry square danced for many years into their 80’s and were members of the Hurley Hoppers. She loved to bake and decorate cakes for weddings and special occasions. She loved to garden, sew, quilt, and babysit her grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are her 2 children, Robert, Hurley and Dolores (Cary) Ricci, LaMars, IA; grandchildren, Linda (Cal) Graber, Hurley, Dianne Thompson, Sioux Falls, Randi (Christy) Thompson, Hurley, Doyle (Michelle) Ricci, Aurora, CO, and Lisa (Mike) Rogers, Evergreen, CO; great grandchildren, Shaun (Tumara) Rogers, Aurora, CO, Tracy (Brett) Petersen, Hurley, Amy (Andy) Thompson, Centerville, Angela (Nathan) Hisel, Centerville, Travis Rogers, Colorado Springs, CO, Kayla (Adam) Norenberg, Vermillion, Chelsea (Josh) Thompson, Hurley, Michael Rogers, Evergreen, CO, Katelyn Graber, Hurley, Michelle Rogers, Evergreen, CO, and Cody Thompson, Hurley; great great grandchildren, Hannah, Bryan, Jonathan, Zoey, Triston, Colton, and Baylee; and a brother Ralph Peterson, Viborg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry in 1998, a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Thompson, a great grandson Ryan Graber, 9 brothers and a sister.
