Monroe. Brenda Joy “Penny” Dawson, 62, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Sanford. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm Thursday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with family present from 6-8:00pm. Brenda Joy “Penny” was born on Novmeber 5, 1949 at Mitchell, SD to Edwin and Florence (Herren) Cundy. She grew up at Mitchell and in 1979 moved to Monroe. On March 21, 1981 she was united in marriage to Tom Dawson at Marion. She had been employed by the Tieszen Memorial Home, Deb’s Amoco, and as a pharmacy tech at Walmart until she retired due to health reasons. She loved to garden, go to rummage sales, play online games, and spending time with her grandbabies. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Tom; 4 children, Charles (Robin) Salen, Lynd, MN, Tracy Blom, Parker, Tammy (Tracy) Heibult, Parker, and Joy (Dave) Schwans, Humboldt; 8 grandchildren, Brad, Jake, Tyler, Samantha, McKenzie, Taylor, Savanna, and Paydn; 2 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Cliff (Kay) Cundy, Marshall, MN and Larry (Terry) Cundy, Sioux Falls; many nieces and nephews; and her four legged companions, Duke, Smokey, and Bullet. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bruce, and best friend and sister-in-law, Edna.
