Elmer A. Lankhorst, 86, Parker, SD, died April 11, 2012 at the Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm Friday with family present from 6-8:00pm at the funeral home. Elmer was born on October 25, 1925 at Monroe, SD to Harry and Bessie (Woltzen) Lankhorst. After graduating from Monroe High School in 1944 he worked as a mechanic for both Spicer’s Garage and Ford Garage, eventually going into farming, and later driving school bus for the Parker School System for 15 years. On August 20, 1947 he was united in marriage to Ardell Merritt. He loved his family, tractors, and fixing just about anything. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Ardell; three children, Royal Lankhorst (Nancy) of Beresford, SD; Candy Lubben and special friend Eric Olson of Burbank, SD; Connie Greguson (Mark) of Chester, SD; three grandchildren, Jason Spielmann and Brent Spielmann, both of Sioux Falls and Isabelle Lankhorst, Beresford, SD; a sister Phyllis Hoiten, Canistota, SD; a sister-in-law, Sandy Lankhorst, Santa Rosa, CA; many nieces and nephews, and one special canine, Digit. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lyle and Lloyd.
