Dorothy E. Guenther, 96, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Good Samarian Village in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 1:30pm Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. A prayer service will be at 7:00pm Friday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Dorothy E. Samuelson was born on July 1, 1915 at Davis, SD to Ned and Viola (Liddicoat) Samuelson. After graduating from Davis High School she attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls. On August 18, 1937 she was united in marriage to Dave Guenther at Parker. They lived on the farm until 1969 when she moved into Parker. She was a very active member of the Parker United Methodist Church since 1937 where she was a very dedicated church organist for many years, church treasurer, past president of the UMW and leader of the daytime Bible study for 8 years. She also served as the district treasurer for 7 years for the United Methodist Women which included 65 churches. For many years she gave piano lessons from her home as a music teacher, having had 50 students a week. Her husband Dave died in 1969. Grateful for having shared her life are her sister Edith Boese, Redford, MI; a niece Mary Fansin, Parker; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dave, and a brother Donald.
