Eloise Welch, 92, died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Viborg. Memorial services will be 2:00pm Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Harmony Presbyterian Church, Hurley with burial at the Hurley Cemetery. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley. Eloise Goodhope was born on October 31, 1919 at Hurley, SD to Chris and Hazel (Woodward) Goodhope. She grew up at Hurley and graduated from Hurley High School in 1937. On November 14, 1939 she was united in marriage to Keith Welch at Lennox, SD. They lived at Hurley until 1942 when they moved to Lakewood, California where they lived for 28 years, returning to Hurley in 1970. She was employed as deputy auditor for Turner County for several years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Harmony Presbyterian Church for over 40 years as an elder and treasurer for the Presbyterian Women, a member of the Hurley Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and the Hurley Historical Society. Her husband died in 1993. Grateful for having shared her life are 2 daughters, Pat Jorgensen, Hurley and Pam (Thomas) Weld, Las Vegas, NV; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild; a brother Robert Goodhope, Parker; and 4 sisters, Meredith Jeanne (Charles) Larsen, Hurley, Yvonne (Eugene) Holt, Santa Barbara, CA, Coryill (Don) Weeg, Sioux Falls, and Sheryl (Dennis) Christensen, Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Merilyn, a son-in-law, Glen, and a grandson Todd.
