Edward Marr Snyder, 42, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at home surrounded by his family after a hard fought battle with cholangiocarcinoma. Memorial services will be 2:00pm Monday, December 17, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Harrisburg. Edward Marr Snyder “Marr” was born on April 3, 1970 in Richmond, VA to Edward C. and Anne (Gulledge) Snyder. After growing up in Stafford, VA and graduating from North Stafford High School in 1988. Marr attended the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA for 4 years. For 10 years he lived in New Orleans, LA where he worked in advertising and for non-profit organizations. He later moved to Fredericksburg, VA where he worked as a manager for numerous homeowner’s associations. On May 30, 2006 Marr was united in marriage to Jenny Mellquist at Key West, FL. Marr and Jenny completed their family when they adopted Joseph Parker Snyder in May of 2007. Later that year they moved to South Dakota where Marr worked as a stay at home Dad. He was a history and music buff, as well as a fan of karaoke. He also belonged to historical WW I reenactor groups. Marr was an active member of the charitable Sioux Falls organization the Parrot Heads of the Prairie as well as the founder of the New Orleans chapter of the Parrot Head Club in the 1990’s. Grateful for having shared Marr’s life are his wife Jenny and son Parker, of Parker, SD; his parents Edward C. and Anne Snyder, Heathsville, VA; a brother Walter Charles (Kim), King George, VA; a sister, Tina Snyder Breede (David), Odessa, FL; his grandmother, Emogene Dayton, Colonial Heights, VA; his mother and father-in-law, Rod and Sallie Mellquist, Erie, PA; 9 nieces and nephews, 4 great nieces and nephews, and several aunts and uncles.
