Barbara “Bobbie” Hovaldt, 83, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Golden Living Covington Heights Care Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Barbara Rose Rice was born on January 22, 1930 at St. Paul, MN to Nettie Earl. After graduating from Parker High School she was united in marriage to Lester Hovaldt on July 7, 1947 at Luverne, MN. They lived near Parker and several towns in South Dakota before moving to Sioux Falls where she has lived since 1966. She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone in the district office for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Her husband died in 1974. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Kermit (Kathy), Sioux Falls, Kristine (Orlyn) Larson, Madison, SD, and Kenneth (Jeannie), Lake Waccamaw, NC; 7 grandchidlren, Coreen (Kent) Slater, Angela (Bob) Ferguson, Greg (Linda) Penning, Dana (Deena) Larson, Lori (Grant) Zarkowski, Nicole Sellin, and Tina Sellin; 16 great grandchildren, Trent, Jenna, Jesse, Lexi, Christipher, Dustin, Colin, Trevor, Shay, Kara, Logan, Ryne, Calen, Angelina, Liam, and Caleb;a sister in law, Marcene (Hovaldt) Galkin (Stan), Kent Island, MD, and special friend Ardell Lankhorst, Parker, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, her Mother Nettie Earl, and 6 sisters.
