Elsie T. Haase, 98, died Monday, May 6, 2013 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Monday, May 13, 2013 at First English Lutheran Church, Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8pm Sunday evening at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Elsie Theresa Spaet was born December 19th, 1914 in Turner County, South Dakota to William and Marie (Heinz) Wirth Spaet. She was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Hurley, SD and graduated from Hurley High School in 1933. Several years later she moved to Chicago Illinois where she did domestic work for sometime. In 1940 she started working at International Harvestor Company. She worked in the defense plant as a drill press operator during World War II and was employed there for 12 ½ years. In 1951 she was united in marriage to Henry M. Haase of Parker at the First English Lutheran Church. In 1953 they moved from Chicago back to Parker to farm southwest of Parker. They retired from farming in 1983 and moved into the City of Parker. Henry passed away November 24, 2000. Since March 11, 2013 she has been a resident of Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg where she died on May 6, 2013. She was a faithful member of First English Lutheran Church since 1953. Survivors include her two daughters, Ruth (Tyrus) A. Leffler of Baltic, SD and Barbara (Malcolm) J. Tilberg of Springfield, MN; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, 3 half-brothers: William Spaet Jr., Henry Wirth and the Rev. Philip Wirth, 6 sisters: Marie Spaet, Minnie Luebbert, Tillie Simon, Hattie Weigt, Esther Dziacko and infant Elsa, infant grandson Matthew L. Tilberg, step-son Robert M. Haase and step daughter-in-law Josephine Haase. Memorials may be directed to First English Lutheran Church.
