Elaine Rae Schaefer

Monroe. Elaine R. Schaefer, 65, died Friday, April 4, 2008 at Avera McKennan Hospice, Sioux Falls. Funeral service will be at 1:00pm Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe with burial in the Monroe Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm Monday at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm Monday evening. Elaine Rae Parry was born on March 13, 1943 north of Parker, SD to Robert D. and Johanna (Nugteren) Parry. She grew up in Sioux Falls where she attended Washington High School. On January 6, 1961 she was united in marriage to Richard Schaefer at Luverne, MN. They lived near Monroe where she was a full time mother. Over the years she had been employed at several places including the Hilltop Nursing Home and the Marion Assisted Living Center. Elaine was a member of the musical group Inspirations, having recorded music and singing for church groups, a member of the Calvary Reformed Church, and she had a gift for hospitality. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Richard; her mother Johanna Parry, Marion; 2 sons, Brent and wife Jody, Marion, and Brian and wife Veronica, San Antonio, TX; a daughter Kristi and husband Richard Dickey, Sioux Falls; a brother Robert and wife Cindy Parry, Watertown; and 9 grandchildren, Justin, Savanah, Andrew, Chelsea, Alecia Elaine, Ryan, Brian Jr, Victor, and Brianna.
