Paula Van Gorkom, 53 died unexpectently and peacefully due to heart complications on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Avera McKennan. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Spring Valley Lutheran Church, rural Viborg with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm Tuesday at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm. She was born on August 12, 1954 to Carol and Maurice Jorgensen. She had a longtime love for music. She graduated from Augustana College in 1976 with a degree in music. Many may remember her as being the church organist, playing for a family member’s wedding or funeral, or accompanying their child at a high school instrumental contest. She was a longtime member and organist/pianist at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood. She was a long term employee of Lambert Building Centers or formerly known as Scott Lumber. In November of 1978 she was united in marriage to Bill Van Gorkom and together they were the parents of 3 children, Nat (Christina) and Sarah (Shawn) of Sioux Falls and Josh of Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to her husband and children she is survived by her mother Carol Jorgensen, sisters Robin Hanten, Turkey Ridge and Annie Hartmann, Sioux Falls, a sister-in-law, Nancy of Sioux City together with a host of nieces nephews, co-workers, and friends.
