While growing up he was involved in 4-H, FFA, and high school sports. After graduation he went to Rapid City to help with the floods. On May 3, 1974 he was married to Linda Rudd and to this union two daughters were born, Jenny and Annie. He had been employed for various employers and for the past 20 years he was employed with Henry Carlson Construction, working on projects such as the new Governors Mansion, new Viborg High School, Sutton Bay Resort, and various projects at USD and Sanford. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Viborg, past member of Viborg city council, Viborg Jaycees, and had been an EMT with the Viborg Ambulance. He was an outdoorsman no matter the season and had a love of animals, cats and dogs his entire life. He had an avid passion for fishing, hunting, and trapping. He loved Pierre and spending time on the river fishing with great friends. He had recently placed his camper permantly out at Garrigan’s Landing where he had planned on spending his retirement. Even though he enjoyed the Pierre area and traveled with his work, he loved Viborg and looked forward to Danish Days every year. His greatest joy in life was his daughters Jenny and Annie and his seven grandchildren. He loved all his grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible. A day with grandpa usually included a trip to Yankton for dog food, lots of treats and a little hard work. After making up his own secret recipes for the grill, his specialties were barbequed ribs and meatloafes.
