Ethelyn “Betty” Andersen, 95, died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at United Methodist Church, Hurley with burial in the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2pm Monday with family present will be from 6-8pm Monday evening at Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley. Ethelyn Stoddard was born on September 11, 1917 near Hurley, SD to Charles and Emma (Rundell) Stoddard. She attended Stoddard School District #21 and graduated from Hurley High School in 1935. On May 24, 1939 she was united in marriage to Ejner Andersen at Hurley. They farmed west of Hurley until moving into Turner Village at Parker in 1994. Since 2009 she has been a resident of Pioneer Memorial in Viborg. Her husband Ejner died in 1999. She was a member of the Hurley United Methodist Church and the Legion Auxiliary. Grateful for having shared her life are her 3 sons, Lowell (Kitty), Hurley, Chuck (Linda), Hartford, and Dick (Marlys), Parker; 9 grandchildren, Wendy (Eldon) Rand, Cindy (Darren) Matthes, Darcy Andersen, Alan (Lea) Andersen, Aaron (Betsy) Andersen, Carrie (Josh) Taylor, Brett (Amy) Andersen, Jason Andersen, and Kevin Andersen; 13 great grandchildren, Hunter, Chase, and Ryleigh Andersen, Kinsley and Brody Taylor, Cora and Abe Andersen, Bianca and Logan Andersen, Maddie and Sophia Rand, Maren and Kate Matthes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers Merle, Luverne, and Wilbur, and 2 sisters, Loraine Crist and Irene Lemohn.
