Eleanor Nold

Eleanor Dorothy Nold, 86, Parker, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8pm Friday at the funeral home. Eleanor Dorothy Potas was born on a farm near Parker on February 25, 1927 to Henry and Marie (Lehrkamp) Potas. Eleanor attended rural school District 52 north of Parker and graduated from Parker High School in 1946. Eleanor was confirmed in the First English Lutheran Church in Parker. On May 25, 1947, she married Robert Nold and lived on the Nold farm most of her life. They opened their loving home and raised two children. Robert retired in 1978 and they traveled to see the country. Robert passed away September 27, 1992 at the age of 75. Eleanor was a member of the Extension Club over 57 years and the Ladies Aid. She also served as an officer at Grace Lutheran Church. She helped making quilts over the many years at the church. Despite Eleanor’s suffering with dementia for many years, she always had a smile on her face. Grateful for having shared her life with her husband Robert were two children, Douglas (Cindy) Nold, Madison, SD and children Carter, Misty, Tambi, and Brendee; Barbara Weiland, Sioux Falls and children Eric, Blake, and Heather; a brother Lester (Rita) Potas, Benson, MN; and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Hugo Larsen, and a son-in-law, James Weiland. Eleanor will be remembered by her family as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandma.
