Linda Lee (Meyer) Flannery was born on July 23, 1954 in Sioux Falls, SD to Wilmer and Marie (Dubbe) Meyer. She was the youngest of five children. She grew up on a farm outside of Humboldt, SD. She graduated from West Central High School in 1972 and earned a legal secretarial degree from Nettleton College. On May 4, 1974, she was united in marriage to Lawrence (Larry) Flannery in Humboldt, SD at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They lived in Sioux Falls until 1989 when they moved out to an acreage outside of Chancellor, SD. She was a legal secretary until choosing to be a stay-at-home mother. After her children were grown, she worked as a waitress and secretary. For the past 10 years, she worked as a bank teller at Home Federal Bank in Lennox and Parker, SD. She was an active member of St. Magdalen's Catholic Church in Lennox, SD serving on the parish council, serving as a Eucharistic minister, as a member of the soup and pie committee, as a member of the graduation committee, Vice President of the Altar Society, and as a member of the Hi-C Club. She taught religious education for many years, prepared the bulletin and liturgical schedule, and participated in numerous other church activities. She was the past South Dakota State Regent of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and held various other positions within the Catholic Daughters. She helped begin St. Christina's Catholic Daughters Court in Tea, Lennox, and Canton, SD. At the time of her death, she held numerous state and local positions within Catholic Daughters. She was active in the United States Postal Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Besides her many church and civic activities, she enjoyed spending time and playing cards with her grandchildren as well as reading, crocheting, gardening, camping, fishing, and sitting on her deck. Having an obsession with beautiful writing utensils, Linda loved to send cards that included her words of wisdom, advice, and or the simple “thinking of you.” Her favorites were the color of purple, butterflies, and angels – all symbols to the beautiful, strong, woman that she was inside and out. She deeply cared for her family and friends - always having a smile and a hug for everyone. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry Meyer, and a son, Jeremy Wilmer John Flannery. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Larry Flannery, her children Matthew Flannery, Ankeny, Iowa and Melissa (Tanner) Plucker, Sioux Falls, SD; two granddaughters Doreen and Katelyn Flannery; three brothers Doug (Connie) Meyer, Humboldt, SD, Larry (Dottie) Meyer, Sioux Falls, SD, and Merlyn (Joyce) Meyer, Salem, SD, as well as special friend Harlan (like an adopted brother) (Rita) Temple, Davis, SD, and numerous aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren, and friends.
