Bertha M. Garry, 89, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 10:30am in St. Christina Catholic Church, Parker with burial in the St. Ann Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation will be from 1-5:00pm on Friday at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Scripture Service/Rosary to be said at 7:30pm Friday evening at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Christina Catholic Church. Bertha Marie Bannwarth was born on March 22, 1919 near Marion, SD to Joseph and Mary (Nosbisch) Bannwarth. She grew up in the Marion area, graduated from Marion High School in 1937, and attended Notre Dame in Mitchell for a year and received her teaching certificate. She taught country school in McCook County for 5 years. On July 7, 1943 she was united in marriage to Melvin H. Garry at Ft. Leonardwood, MO. They farmed in the Humboldt area and retired and moved into Parker in 1979. She was a member of St. Christina Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and the Legion Auxiliary. Her husband Melvin died in 2006. Grateful for having shared her life are 5 sons, Joe and his wife Maureen, Hurley, Dale, Humboldt, Jack and his wife Sandy, Humboldt, Stan and his wife Mary, Colton, and Randy and his wife Sidney, Dolton; 3 daughters, Kay Ideker and her husband Richard, Sioux Falls, Linda Kasten and her husband Jim, Parker, and Mary Garry and her special friend Willis Scott, Parker; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin, a son Roger, 3 brothers, Herbert, Eldon, and infant Robert, and 2 sisters, Margaret and Clara.
