William Steve Konda was born on March 8, 1947 in McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls, SD to Henry and Madeline (Miller) Konda. He attended country school and Parker High School until the age of 16 when he left school to help his Dad farm. He was drafted into the US Army and served 18 months in Vietnam. While in the service he received his GED and was the Soldier of the Month Award winner in 1967. He ended his career with the US Army as a 2nd PLT with the 86th Engineer Battalion. On August 15, 1969 he was united in marriage to Trudy Wieman at Monroe, SD. He had a deep love for his family and worked hard to provide for them. His love for his grandchildren was unending. He enjoyed helping them with their projects, attending their activities and enjoyed having them at his home. He took great pride in his employment and he gave 100% on any project that needed to be done. He deeply enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and farming with his friend Curt Matthies. A couple of his most talked about memories are that of his hunting trip with his son, son in laws and friends at Woonsocket and his fishing trip with his cousin Steve Konda at Mobridge.
