Alan Robert Marsh

Parker. Alan R. Marsh, 76, died Friday, June 20, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, Sioux Falls with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm on Monday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with the family present from 6-8:00pm. Alan Robert Marsh was born on April 23, 1932 at Revillo, SD to Robert and Hertha (Pahl) Marsh. He grew up just south of Union Center where his lived his entire life, attending country school at Wellington #113 and graduating from Parker High School. On July 16, 1960 he was united in marriage to LaVonne Fincher. He farmed, worked construction and owned a gravel truck, was the manager of Terminal Grain in Parker, and owned and operated Union Center for many years until his retirement in 1995. His wife LaVonne died in 1994. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sioux Falls and had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford and Grace Lutheran, Parker. On June 30, 1995 he was united in marriage to Melva (Worlie) Christensen at Sioux Falls. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Melva, 3 sons, Jody (Julie), Parker, Alan Jr. (Cathy), Adrian, MN, and Jason, Sioux Falls; a daughter Julie Story (Stanton), Sioux Falls; 2 step-sons, Wayne Christensen (Gail), Larmie, WY and Joe Christensen, Sioux Falls; 5 grandsons and 2 step- grandsons; 2 brothers and a sister, Dwane (Dawn), LeRoy (Marcia), and Rowena Langerock (Berdell), all of Parker.
