Marie Luke

Marie J. Luke, 76 died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at her home. Funeral mass will be at 10:30am Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marion with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm Friday at the church with a Rosary to be said at 6:30pm followed by a Scripture Service at 7:00pm. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Marion. Marie Julia Klein was born on August 1, 1937 in Iowa to John and Bernadette (Holles) Klein. She grew up in Iowa and attended catholic schools. On October 10, 1959 she was united in marriage to John Luke at Hospers, IA. They lived in Marion and in 1971 moved to the farm. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society, was a sports enthusiast and Twins fan, enjoyed babysitting and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events, and an avid gardener and seamstress. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband John; 2 sons, Gary (Jody), and Brian (Shannon), all of Marion; 2 daughters, Linda F. Luke, Marion and Sr. Carmella Luke, Sioux Falls; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and 6 sisters, Elenora Jungers, Sheldon, IA, Bernice (Paul) Schwebach, Plymouth, MN, Marge (Larry) Hugyens, Sioux Center, IA, Geraldine (Wayne) Hardin, Primgar, IA, Charlotte Watts, Ashland, NE, and Theresa (Larry) Gathman, Springfield, MO. She was preceded in death by a son Myron in 1982, an infant daughter Patricia, a brother Harold, and a sister Josephine. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe directed to the charity of the donors choice.
