James Kermit Holm

James Kermit Holm, 58 died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at his home. Memorial services will be 10:30am Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Viborg Community Center, Viborg with burial in the Bethania Lutheran Cemetery, Viborg. Visitation with family present will begin at 6:00pm Friday at the Viborg Community Center with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker. James Kermit Holm was born on August 19, 1955 to Kermit and Phyllis (Gorham) Holm at Viborg, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Viborg. Jim attended and graduated from Viborg High School in 1973. Later, he graduated from Mitchell Vocational Technical College studying agriculture. During the off-season, Jim drove truck for Clare Knudson, Wakonda, SD and Jorgenson Brothers Trucking, Hurley, SD. After college, Jim joined his father in the farming operation. On February 11, 1984 he was united in marriage to Sheila Christensen in Long Beach, CA. They made their home in rural Wakonda. To this union was born a daughter, Holly Georgiana. Jim enjoyed farming, golf, and cruising with the Fast n' Easy Car Club. He was an avid reader of most all farm publications. Jim was a good steward of the land and was a source of information to new and seasoned farmers, alike. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Phyllis Holm; in-laws, Maurice and Georgiana Christensen; grandparents, Harl and Marie Holm, and Orville and Nellie Gorham; and two uncles Norman (Bud) Gorham and Jerald Hansen. Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Sheila; daughter Holly and her husband Gregg; granddaughter Stella; a sister Linda (Wayne) Ayres, Aiken, SC; two nieces Krista (David) Lyle, Aiken, SC and Kelly Ayres, Rock Hill, SC; and a host of friends.
