Art Engbrecht, 83 died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the VA Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at First Church of God, Marion with burial in the West Vermillion Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be with family present from 6-8pm Monday at Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Marion. Arthur LaVane Engbrecht was born with his twin brother Alvin on March 2, 1931 to John H. and Annie (Willems) Engbrecht. After attending grade school in Dolton he graduated from Marion High School in 1949. Upon completing his education he enlisted in the US Air Force spending three of his four years in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was especially proud of his service to his country in the 125th Communications Squadron. While in the service he was able to tour all over Europe. After his discharge in 1955 he was employed with the Turner Hutchinson Electric, Marion where he was employed as a sales and service advisor and energy conservation specialist. On October 10, 1955 he was united in marriage to Donna Mae Studelska at Marion. To this union three daughters where born, Debra Anna, Loretta Ellen, and Mary Elizabeth. Most of Art's life was spent loving and caring for the greatest joy of his life, his family. He spent much time hunting, fishing, farming, family picnics, vacation trips, and summer time with his grandchildren. He treasured fishing and hunting trips with his grandson, brothers, and nephews. He loved the community in which he lived and a host of lifelong friends at the coffee shops. He was a member of the First Church of God, American Legion, and retired from the Marion Volunteer Fire Department. Grateful for having shared his life are two daughters, Debra Hepner, Sioux Falls and Loretta (Don) Lueders, Garretson; five grandchildren, David, Anna, Ethan, Logan, and Landon and two great grandchildren, Jezaleyn Rae and Ava Victoria; 3 brothers Clarence (Vi), Marion, his twin Alvin (Darlene), Vermillion, and Virgil (Mary), Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna in 2012, daughter Mary Elizabeth, his parents, and brother John and sister Ardis.
