Ruth J. Lauritsen

Ruth Eileen Lauritsen, 91, died Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Bethesda Home in Beresford. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Friday, August 22, 2008 at Harmony Presbyterian Church, Hurley with burial in the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8:00pm Thursday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley. Ruth J. Jackson was born on August 27, 1916 at Hurley, SD to Frank and Lillian (Ricker) Jackson. After graduating from Hurley High School in 1934 she attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO and graduated from California Central Business College in Fresno, CA. She worked for a time in a law office in California before moving back to Hurley in 1947. On May 12, 1956 she was united in marriage to Stanley Lauritsen at Hurley. She worked for 30 years in the drug store in Hurley and later Viborg. They farmed near Hurley for 25 years before moving into Hurley. They lived in Turner Village at Parker before moving to Beresford. She was a member of Harmony Presbyterian Church, Hurley. Her husband Stanley died in 2007. Grateful for having shared her life are 2 sons, Doug Lauritsen, Rapid City, SD and Mark Lauritsen and his wife Cheri, Hartford, SD.
