Gena Oneva Peterson, 97, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center in Canton. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Tuesday at the Canton Lutheran Church with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton. Visitation will begin at 10:00am Tuesday at the church. Gena Oneva Olson was born on August 29, 1911 at Klondike, Iowa to Gabriel and Anna (Anderson) Olson of Lyndahl-Farsund, Norway. Her parents were married in Lyndahl at Austad Lutheran Church in 1902. They came to the Inwood, Iowa area, and settled in the Klondike area. It was here they raised Oneva and her 9 siblings. She was preceded in death by sisters Myrtle, Olive, Helen, and brothers Gerhard, Thorvald, and Herman. She is survived by sister Palma and brothers Milo and Stanley. Her father Gabriel died at age 51 in 1927 and her mother Anna died at the age of 94 in 1976. Oneva attended Klondike School and stayed home and helped her mother with the family. On December 29, 1928 she was united in marriage to Martin Peterson at Sioux Falls. Martin was born in Jevanaker, Norway and he died in 1976. Other survivors include 2 sons, Omar Peterson, Canton, and Donald and his wife Dolly, Milbank; 10 grandchildren, Alicia, Bill, Joe, John, Brad, Julie, Dan, Mike, Tim and Kevin; 30 great grandchildren, Patti, Christi, Emily, Landon, Brendan, Keelan, Josh, Ryan, Brady, Ian, Kyle, Danica, Amanda, Kelli Jo, Tara, Michael, Anders, Kiersten, Jacob, Karryn, Alivia, Cory, Chad, Lexie, Kaleb, Sarah, Joselyn, Adam, Katie, and Nikki; and 14 great great grandchildren, Aspen, Cody, Riley, Nickolas, Joy, Olivia, Dominick, Hayley, Soren, Emma, Gavin, Nicholas, Rian, and Camryn.
