Leila P. Jensen, 97, died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg. Memorial service will be 2:00pm Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the United Methodist Church, Hurley with burial to precede services at the Hurley Cemetery. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley. Leila Pearle Larsen, was born October 18, 1910 to Abe and Mary [Gjertvig] Larsen in Gary, SD. She lived in several towns in South Dakota and in Montevideo and Pipestone, Minnesota as she was growing up. She moved to Hurley as a young woman where he parents operated to hotel. She was united in marriage to George Arthur Jensen on July 21, 1930 and moved to Minneapolis early in their marriage. George and Leila had a son, Quenten Jensen, and five grandchildren: Christopher, Lisa, Laura, Holly, and Tracy. George and Leila retired to Hurley in 1965. Leila was a member of the Hurley United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Questers club, and was formerly a Hurley Library Board member, Hurley Women’s Club member, church trustee, and Sunday school teacher. In Minneapolis, she was a member of Wesley Methodist Church where she had charge of the nursery each Sunday for several years. She was a wonderful, generous friend to many. Leila was preceded in death by her husband, George; son Quentin; brother Hugh, and her parents. She is survived by her niece, Jeanne and husband Kenneth Larson, her nephew Jerry and wife Mary Jensen; close friends Jan and Steve Rayburn; and many relatives and friends.
