Hurley, SD. Mark T. Kass, 62 died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Centerville, SD. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7:00pm Thursday evening at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley. Visitation will be from 1-5pm Friday afternoon at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Hurley with a Scripture Service at 7:00pm Friday evening at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Centerville. Mark Timothy Kass was born on May 12, 1952 at LaMars, Iowa to Robert C. and Claudine E. (Rasar) Kass. He grew up at LaMars where he graduated from LaMars High School in 1970. He worked construction before operating a restaurant in Jackson, MN for 10 years. On April 6, 1984 he was united in marriage to Gail DeNeui at Milford, IA. They have lived in Hurley since 1991 where he was self employed. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Centerville and a member and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Gail, Hurley; a sons Michael E. (Sandy) Davis, Alta, IA; 2 grandchildren, Logan (Carolina) Davis, Storm Lake, IA, and Morgan (Levi) McNamara and great granddaughter Zoe Marie, Parry IA; 5 brothers and sisters, Charles R. (Laura) Kass, Arroyo Grande, CA, Scott W. (Marlene) Kass, West Okoboji, IA, Claudia C. Kalous, De Pere, WI, Myles R. (Roberta) Kass, LaMars, IA, and Charmaine L. Kass (Ron), Merrill, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. and Claudine E. Kass, and a brother Douglas D. Kass.
