Erma L. Nelson, 95 died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Clark Jeary Retirement Community in Lincoln, NE. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Monday, November 17, 2014 at United Methodist Church, Parker, SD with burial to precede services at the Lennox Cemetery. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Erma Lucille Farmer was born on November 14, 1918 at Willow Springs, MO one of nine children to Charles and Flora (White) Farmer. She grew up at Lennox, SD where she graduated from Lennox High School in 1938 and was crowned Homecoming Queen. On October 27, 1940 she was united in marriage to Viggo Nelson at Lennox, SD. They lived in the Lennox area before moving to Arlington, SD in 1963 and to Parker in 1977. Since 2008 she has been a resident of Lincoln, NE. She worked with her husband as the bookkeeper for his agricultural business. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church where she was involved as a Sunday School teacher, past president of United Methodist Women, helped with vacation bible school, secretary of her circle, made pies for the church fairstand, and involved with Bible study groups. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid gardener and quilter. Grateful for having shared her life are her 2 sons, Michael and wife Janice, Lincoln, NE and Merlin, Hartford, WI; 2 grandchildren, Jamie (Bruce) Schlickbernd and their daughter Jordan, and Jon (Jill) Nelson and their sons Michael and Nathan; and a sister in law, Elaine Farmer, Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Viggo in 1987, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
