Keith M. (Brownie) Brown, Spearfish, SD, formerly of Monroe, SD died Thursday, December 25 2014, at Ft Meade Hospice Unit in Sturgis, SD. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe with burial at the Monroe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Monday evening at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Keith was born May 10, 1923 in Salem, SD where he lived until 1937. He and his family moved to Sioux Falls where he attended Washington High School. He joined the Navy following high school where he was attached to the Medical Corp. He served in the South Pacific in WWII. After his discharge he attended Nettleton College where he met his wife Virdella Chilson. They were married in 1946. Keith worked for Kreisers starting from pharmacy tech to attaining the position of CEO. During his tenure at Kreisers Inc. he began in Sioux Falls, he opened new operations in Rapid City, SD and Billings, MT. In 1986 Keith retired from the store in Montana Later he was requested by the President to return to Kreiser’s as CEO where he remained until he retired in 1992. During his business career Keith was administrator of John Burns Memorial Hospital in Belle Fourche SD, for five years . He also was the first administrator for Twin City Hospital in Deadwood, SD for two years. His greatest love was spending time with his family. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, camping and bowling. Wherever Keith was, there was laughter. He had the greatest sense of humor and could make the clouds go away and the sun shine. Survivors include his wife Virdella, Spearfish SD; a daughter, Sandra Bucher (Dennis), Aladdin, WY; a son, Michael Brown (Elizabeth), Highland Village, TX; 6 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, one great grandson, , and two great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, 5 sisters in law, and 3 brothers in law. As husband, father and grandfather Keith will be missed immensely but comforting to know he is with our heavenly father.
