Martin J. Thomas

Martin J. Thomas, 90, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with burial in the Schartner Cemetery, Marion. Visitation will be from 4-7:00pm Monday with the family present. Martin J. Thomas was born on July 26, 1918 in McCook County, SD to Joseph L. and Susan (Deckert) Thomas. On May 23, 1950 he was united in marriage to Mary Helen Engbrecht at Dolton, SD. They farmed near Marion, retiring in 1990. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Mary Helen; two daughters, Mary Jane Thomas and Kathryn Thomas, both of St. Louis, MO; and a brother Otto Thomas, Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Warren.
