Cynthia "Cyn" Dornbusch

Cynthia "Cyn" C. Schmieg-Dornbusch, age 55, of Parker, South Dakota who died Wednesday, December 16, 2015, as the result of a pedestrian accident in Parker , SD. Memorial services will be at 1:00pm Sunday, December 20, 2015 at St. Christina's Catholic Church, Parker, SD with Fr. Hal Barber. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville with Father Jack Nordick celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Casket bearers will be: Tony Schmieg, Brianna Kirchberg, Brandon Schmieg, Keenan Schmieg, Rod Fenhaus and Gerald Koepke. Cynthia Cleora Schmieg was born on September 14, 1960, in Ortonville, MN, to Daniel Schmieg and Eunice (Strei) Schmieg. She was baptized at St. Joseph's Church in Rosen, MN. She attended grade school in Rosen, MN and graduated from the Ortonville High School in 1978. She then attended Vocational School in Moorhead, MN for fashion merchandising. She married Jess Dornbusch in Ortonville, MN on June 28, 1985. She greatly enjoyed working in the fashion industry working in many women's fashion boutiques in the Fargo/Moorhead and Minneapolis areas. She moved back home in 1983 after the death of her sister Natalie. She then moved to Parker, SD and bought the Parker House Supper Club and has owned and managed it for over twenty years. In Cyn's spare time, she enjoyed gardening, golfing, watching the Minnesota Vikings, going for motorcycle rides, and she also enjoyed many trips to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Above all else, Cyn enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was loved by everyone who knew her, especially her nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered as the life of the party. Cyn is survived by her parents: Daniel and Eunice Schmieg of Big Stone City, SD; siblings: Debbie (Pat) McCormick of Seattle, WA; Randy (Brenda) Schmieg of Big Stone City, SD; Mary (Rod) Fenhaus of Big Stone City, SD; Tony Schmieg, of Big Stone City, SD; nieces and nephews: Kelly, Casey, Michael, Katie McCormick, Brandon Schmieg, Brianna Kirchberg, Keenan Schmieg, Rachel, Jessica, Logan Fenhaus; nine great-nieces and nephews; and one special friend, Gerald Koepke. She was preceded in death by her sister; Natalie Holmquist; grandparents: Antone (Mary) Schmieg, Joe (Cecelia) Strei and numerous aunts, uncles, and other family members.
