Larry Elroy Bossman, after a 5 1/2 year battle with pancreatic cancer, departed this earthly life on November 9, 2016, a day before his 78th birthday, in exchange for the promise of eternal life in the bosom of our Almighty Father. Memorial services will be at 2:00pm Monday, November 14, 2016 at Second Reformed Church, Lennox. Visitation with family present will be from 3-5pm Sunday at the church. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Larry Elroy Bossman was born on November 10, 1938 in rural Lincoln County, SD to Elroy and Evelyn (Javers). After attending Lennox School for 12 years he attended college for a year. On August 22, 1958 he was united in marriage to Maxine Ramse, his high school sweetheart, at Lennox, SD. To this union four sons were born. He managed two local grocery stores, worked on farms in the Colton and Canton areas before moving to the farm where he presently lived. For 31 years he operated a dairy. He loved to camp, do woodworking, especially carving for which he won many awards. They spent 16 years wintering in Texas. He served on the Sioux Valley Milk Producers board, Middleton Township board and also operated the road grader for many years. He was a member of Second Reformed Church in Lennox. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Maxine; 4 sons, Brian (Inger), Worthing, SD, Torin, Hurley, SD, Colin (Lisa), Harrisburg, SD, and Troy (Laura), Sioux Falls; grandchildren Brandy, Worthing, SD, Mike and Kassie, Sioux Falls; step granddaughter Jennifer (John) Gabriel, Hunter, and Carlee; his mother Evelyn, Sioux Falls; siblings Carol (Don) Bogaards, Colombus, OH, Ruth Poppens, Sioux Falls, Virginia (John) Miller, Henderson, MN, Mary (Wayne) Kuper, Lennox, Duane (Deb), Toledo, IA, and Paul (Karen), Lennox. He was preceded in death by his father Elroy, a sister-in-law Faye Bossman, a nephew Kelly Kuper, and a brother-in-law, Russ Poppens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Union Gospel Mission, Sioux Falls.
