Katie Dykshorn, 90, died Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Thursday, August 6, 2009 at First Reformed Church, Harrison, SD with burial in the Harrison Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm Wednesday evening. Katie J. Wolbrink was born on September 7, 1918 near Stickney, SD to Jacob and Hattie (Brouwer) Wolbrink. She attended country grade school, graduating from Stickney High School, and receiving a teaching certificate from Northwestern College, Orange City, IA. After teaching school for 8 years she was united in marriage to Charles Dykshorn on May 22, 1946 at Stickney. God gave them three chosen sons, Andrew, James, and Edward. They farmed in the Corsica area. Her husband died in 1979. In 1990 she moved into Harrison and moved to Parker in 2003. She was a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church in Harrison and a Gideons since 1950. Grateful for having shared her life are 2 sons, Andrew ( Marilyn), Parker, and James, Salem; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild; and a sister Sarah De Boer, Corsica. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, a son Edward, seven brothers and a sister, a granddaughter LaPrina, and a daughter-in-law, Twila. Memorials may be directed to the Gideons.
