Ralph "Doc" Sedelmeier, 70 of Geneva, NE and a native of Hurley, SD died Monday, January 9, 2017. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Friday, January 13, 2017 at Harmony Presbyterian Church, Hurley with burial in the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before services. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Ralph Edward Sedelmeier was born on November 4, 1946 at Viborg, SD to Robert E. and Agatha (Enos) Sedelmeier. After graduating from Hurley High School in 1965 he served in the US Army, having been stationed in Greece. After his discharge from the service he graduated with a BS degree from General Beadle Teachers College, Madison, SD. On April 27, 1973 he was united in marriage to Janice Sonen at Tea, SD. He taught school in Huron, SD, Lynch, NE, Stratton, NE, Sargent, NE, and for 42 years in Geneva, NE, retiring in 2013. Over the years he umpired baseball, and refereed basketball and football high school games. He earned his master degree from Wayne State College, Wayne, NE. He also worked as a booking agent having his own talent agency, Independent Talent Agency. He was a member of the American Legion. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Janice; a sister Rita (David) Nelson, Sioux Falls; a daughter in law, Sarah Sedelmeier, Harrisburg, SD; and 3 grandchildren, Jonah, Grace, and Miles. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son William, and 2 brothers, Randy and Robert.
