Irene Plummer

Irene Plummer, 77 of Parker and formerly of Columbia, SD, died Friday, March 3, 2017 at Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be at 1:00pm Monday, March 6, 2017 at First English Lutheran Church, Parker. Committal service will be at 1:00pm Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Columbia with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Irene Marie Plummer was born on June 8, 1939 at Aberdeen, SD to Mattous and Sophie (Kranzler) Kempf. She grew up in rural Leola, SD and received her education in Barnard, SD. On May 3, 1959 she was united in marriage to Howard H. Plummer at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Leola where she was also baptized and confirmed. They settled in the Columbia area where they farmed and raised cattle for over 40 years. She was employed at Beadle Floral in Aberdeen for 11 years. They moved to Parker in 2012 to be closer to family. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Columbia, First English Lutheran Church, Parker and LWML. She was an avid gardener and was a horticulture judge at the Brown County Fair. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Howard; 3 children, James (Lisa) Plummer, Tyndall, SD, Janeen (Don) Rang, and Julie Plummer, all of Parker; 5 grandchildren, Garrett, Danielle, Matt, Emily, and Austin; 3 great grandchildren, Karsten, Madisen, and Braelyn; and 2 brothers Harold (Mavis) Kempf, Aberdeen, and Ernest (Chris) Kempf, Bath, SD.
