Travis James Swords, Viborg, South Dakota, fought a long battle with depression, addiction, and the lack of services available for him and many others. Sadly, Travis lost his battle on June 20, 2017. Private family services were held. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. Travis was born February 26, 1984 in Hawarden, Iowa, to Monica Swords and John Muth. He attended school in Alcester, SD, and spent a number of years in the Black Hills of South Dakota, before returning to southeast South Dakota. Over the past few years he made his home in the Centerville and Viborg, SD area. He was always a mechanically inquisitive person, even as a child, and spent many of the last few years as a contractor’s assistant in the building industry. His other passion has always been being out in nature, fishing, hunting, picking asparagus and mushrooms. This is where he found his solice. He also enjoyed all kinds of music. He was loved and will be greatly missed by so many, including his wife, Lynn, his son Rian, his other two children, Devillian and Ella all of Viborg; his mother, Monica Swords (Danny Nielson) of Sioux City, Iowa; his “Granny”, Peggy Gubbrud of Hudson, SD; his grandfather, Wade (Mary) Swords of Sioux City, Iowa; his sister, Brittni Nohava (Antonio Mora) of Hawarden, Iowa; his brother, Landon Nohava of Sioux Falls, SD; two nieces, Aubrianna Nohava and Autumn Bultman of Hawarden, Iowa; and three nephews, Antonio, Alexander, and Anthony Mora of Hawarden, Iowa; plus numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many, many friends. Travis was preceeded in death by his father, John Muth; his maternal great-grandparents, Jim and Noella Garthright; and his paternal great-grandmother, Ida Muth.
