Johanna Parry, 88, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe with burial in the Monroe Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm Tuesday at Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm Tuesday evening. Johanna Nugteren was born on July 18, 1921 at Colton, SD to Joe and Marie (Vander Lugt) Nugteren and she grew up in the Colton area. On August 17, 1942 she was united in marriage to Robert D. Parry. They lived in Sioux Falls for 16 years, Sgt. Bluff, IA, and Yankton before moving to Monroe in 1972 when they retired. She was a member of the Calvary Reformed Church where she made her confession of faith in 1938. Her husband died in 1983. Grateful for having shared her life are her son Robert (Cindy), Watertown; a son-in-law, Dick Schaefer, Monroe; 5 grandchildren, Brent (Jody), Brian (Veronica), Kristi (Richard), Andrea (Jason), and Erika; 13 great grandchildren; 7 siblings, Art, Marion, Gertrude Griebel, Monroe, Cornelius (Liane), Warner Robbins, GA, Marion (Katie), Paw Paw, MI, John (Emmy), New Carlisle, IN, Donald (Carol), Sioux Falls, and Jim (Janette), Canistota; and a sister-in-law, Karen Nugteren, Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, a daughter Elaine, a brother Tony, and a sister Cornelia.
