Janice Ramsley

Janice Ramsley, 78 of Viborg died Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be at 2:00pm Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Viborg Community Center, Viborg with burial at the Holland Cemetery, rural Centerville. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Janice Kaye (Simonsen) Ramsley was born on March 14, 1939 to Lars and Mary (Christensen) Simonsen. After going all twelve years to school in Viborg, she graduated from Viborg High School in 1957. She worked at several cafes as a waitress and candled eggs at the egg plant before starting to work as a dental assistant in 1969. On June 23, 1957 she was united in marriage to Dean Ramsley at Viborg. She enjoyed singing, dancing and going to her childrens, grandchildrens and great grandchildrens sporting events. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and belonged to the UMW. She was also a member of the DBS. On June 30, 2015 she retired from the dental clinic after working there for 45 years. She enjoyed her job and working with Dr. Hahn and the rest of the staff. After retiring she missed all of them and did not enjoy retirement. She did enjoy going out to eat with a lot of great friends, talking, laughing, and having fun. We (they) did not talk about politics, as that was a no no. She did like to play Fast Track and other card games whenever there was a chance to do so. She did not like to cook, (unless Jeff came home) something everybody knew, and she enjoyed many good laughs about her cooking. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Jeffery Dean (Debbie), Minnesota Lake, MN and Pam Rudd (Joe Booth), Irene, SD; grandchildren Jamie (Mathias) Stucky and their children Josie, Clara, and Adelynn; Justin (Tonya) Rudd and their children Reagan, Nora, and Eden; Jessica (Drew) O’Brien and their daughter Brynlee; Cole (Sarah) Ramsley and their daughter Maya; and Alison Ramsley; and 2 step grandchildren, Amy (Lisa) Anderson-Gaber and Tiffany (Justin) Oeffler. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean in 2008, a brother Arlin, and 2 sisters, Ardis and Verona.
