Bobby Chester, 82 died Monday, November 20, 2017 at his home under hospice care. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls with burial at the Hurley Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Friday evening at the funeral home. Bobby Dean Chester was born on May 14, 1935 at Jefferson, SD to Lawrence and Hazel (Schroeder) Chester. He grew up in the Parker area before serving in the US Marine Corps. On April 14, 1961 he was united in marriage to Loretta Sampson at Denver, CO. They spent many years in Colorado before relocating back to South Dakota. He worked as a mechanic and long haul trucker. Bob enjoyed watching Nascar and participated in midget car racing at Lakeside Speedway winning rookie of the year. In 1962 he was part of a pit crew in the Indianapolis 500. He loved animals and is survived by his faithful dog Bengee. Grateful for having shared his life are 2 sons, Bobby (Shar) and Terry (Korena), all of Sioux Falls; 3 grandchildren, Andrea Chester, Kaylee (Alex) Oppold, and Brent Chester; and 7 brothers and sisters, Bonnie Wirt, Parker, Darlene Ommen, Aurora, CO, Deborah Petzrick, Fairfax, VA, Larry, Hugo, CO, Dale, Aurora, CO, Dennis, Parker, and Lynn, Aurora, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Loretta in 1988.
