Phyllis Mae Peterson

Phyllis Mae Peterson, age 74, passed away on Sunday, October 25th , 2009 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg, SD. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29th, 2009 at Harmony Presbyterian Church, Hurley, SD, with burial at the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday October 28th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Hurley, SD, with family present from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Phyllis Mae Peterson was born to Edward and Violet (Jensen) Wilson on January 19th 1935 in Chancellor, SD. She married Evert Peterson on January 19, 1953 in Parker, SD. They lived near Beresford until 1958 when they moved to Hurley. Throughout the years, she worked as a waitress and also owned and operated Phil's Café. In 1985 she began working at Little Philly's Café and Ole's Market in Hurley, SD until 1998. She entered the nursing home in January 2006 until the time of her death. Grateful for having shared her life are her eight daughters: Marlys (Dick) Andersen, Parker, Debbie, Chancellor, Jeannie (Phillip) Johnson, Viborg, Mary (Burnell) Olesen, Hurley, Dianne, Hurley, Marlene (Terry) Davidson, Lennox, Linda (Tom) Nelson, Hurley, Susan (Tim) Wurtz, Hurley, along with nine grandchildren and eight great¬-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Sharon Smidt, Freeman, as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers, Leslie, Leonard and LeRoy. Memorials may be directed to Harmony Presbyterian Church or Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home.
