Ellen A. Leahy, 97, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Funeral mass will be at 10:30am Monday, December 7, 2009 at St. Christina Catholic Church, Parker with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4:00pm Sunday afternoon at the Tieszen Memorial Home Chapel, Marion and Sunday evening at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Agnes Ellen Leahy was the sixth child out of twelve children born to John and Nellie (Halsey) Leahy. Ellen grew up at Parker and graduated from Parker High School in 1930. Following high school she worked in Parker and during WW II was an OPA were they did rationing. She was employed for many years at Mom and Dad’s Nursing Home in Sioux Falls and the Hilltop Home in Parker. In 2006 she moved to the Marion Assisted Living and in 2008 she became a resident of the Tieszen Memorial Home. Ellen was a member of St. Christina Catholic Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and loved to play bridge. Ellen was a wonderful loving care giver of her family. It was a very important part of her life to take care of her parents and siblings who needed her in anyway. Grateful for having shared her life are a sister Marjorie McDonald, Pasco, Washington, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Bernice, Florence, Mae, Sarah, Mary Jane, Lois Ann, and Edith, and brothers, Francis, Harold, and John.
