Alice attended a country school Clear Lake #67. Alice attended Church with her family and was baptized at the Free Methodist Church in Humboldt where she came to know her Lord and Savior. School, Church, Chores, and family were pretty much the story of Alice’s young life. With a family of eleven you did not pile (and I do mean pile) into a car just to go for a Sunday drive. The Farmer’s Union was also a part of this family and Alice took part in Farmer’s Union Camps and other outings. Alice lived with her family on the farm until 1958 when they moved to Sioux Falls due to our father’s ill health. Alice worked as a Nanny-housekeeper for Rich and Cash Swier of Colton for eight or nine years coring for their children while both parents worked. Alice met the love of her life, Stephen Jesse, while on a Farmer’s Union bus trip. Steve and Alice were both quite shy so it was a joyous surprise when they were married on April 19, 1968 at the Catholic Church in Montrose, SD. They farmed in Montrose, and Monroe area for several years before selling out and moving to their new home near Renner, SD. While living near Montrose, Alice often had a house full of kids she tended for many of her family members. All though Alice never had children of her own, her door and heart were always open to many others. She loved children and they loved their fun-loving aunt who liked playing pranks and making them laugh giving many fond memories. Alice worked in housekeeping at the Ramada Inn before working in housekeeping at the McKennan Hospital for nineteen years retiring in 2006.
