Memorial services will be at 11:00am Monday, July 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Viborg with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Helen Mayme Paulsen was born on January 24, 1920 to Chris and Alice (Larsen) Paulsen at Parker. After growing up on the family farm and attending school at Parker she was united in marriage to Merl Flint in July of 1938 and to this union two children were born. They farmed in the Viborg area. After Merle died in 1969 she met and married Leonard Miller in May of 1975. Leonard died in 1997. Helen worked at K Mart, Hardees and finally McDonald’s until 2007 at the age of 87. In December of 2009 she was became a resident of Bethany Home where she lived until her death. She made many friends at Bethany and so loved all the great nurses and care specialists that made her last years as comfortable as possible. She touched the lives of many people and always had a smile to greet them. She was always looking out for her special child Judy. Judy and Helen were there for each other for many years while each were living in Sioux Falls. Helen never really got over the loss of Judy in 2007. Helen had a great work ethic and never rested until the job was finished. She would take Kenny pheasant hunting after school while Merl was working and also clean the birds. Not many mothers like that. She made sure her son got to swimming lessons at the YMCA because she was deathly afraid of water. How can we list all the sacrifices that a mother does for her children. She was truly a member of the Greatest Generation. Grateful for having shared her life are her son Kenny (Cindy) Flint, Sioux Falls; grandsons Dale (Keri) Flint, Rapid City, and Brad Flint, Ventura, CA; a granddaughter Kristi (Jim) Kooima and family, Sioux Falls; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Merl and Leonard, brothers Vern, Lyle, and Jim, and a daughter Judy.
