Lester Brue, 87, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be at 12:30pm Saturday, January 30, 2010 at First Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls with burial to precede services at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Hurley. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls with family present from 5-7:00pm. Memorials may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church, Hurley or to the First Lutheran Church media ministry. Lester K. Brue was born on September 26, 1922 on the farm in rural Parker to Edward and Rachel (Johnson) Brue. After graduating from Hurley High School in 1940 he farmed on the home place. On December 16, 1945 he was united in marriage to Alice Skalland at Split Rock Lutheran Church in rural Brandon. They farmed for many years until 1987 when they retired and enjoyed spending several years in Arizona. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Hurley, First Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, enjoyed playing golf at ParMar Valley Country Club, and had been appointed by the governor to the state commission of the South Dakota Water Resources. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Alice, 4 daughters, Karol (Bill) Aeschlimann, Parker, Peggy (Brent) Brown, San Francisco, CA, Corrine (Greg White) Brue, Austin, TX, and Jan (Glen) Enright, Sioux Falls; 9 grandchildren, Kristin, Eric, Chad, Brian, Craig, Jessica, Joel, Daniel, and Hannah; and 5 great grandchildren, Sydney, Tyler, Isabel, Dash, and Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Everett and Melvin, and 3 sisters, Edna, Lucille, and Arlene.
