Lois E. Bossman, 87 died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Ava’s House by Sanford. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Germantown Presbyterian Church, rural Chancellor. Visitation with family present from 5-7pm Tuesday at the Tieszen Home Chapel, Marion with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.
Lois Elaine Bossman was born on August 19, 1930 near Parker, SD to Katie (Heibult) and Peter Dykstra Jr. She attended country school and on December 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to Vernon Bossman at Germantown Presbyterian Church, rural Chancellor. Vernon served in the Army during the Korean War and they were stationed in Georgia. They returned to the farm in rural Parker where they lived and farmed for the next fifty-plus years retiring and moving into Parker in 2004. She was a resident of the Parker Assisted Living and a resident for the past year at the Tieszen Memorial Home. She was a very active member of the Germantown Presbyterian Church, was an avid gardener and did lots of canning, sewing, altered many wedding and bridesmaid dresses, quilting, spent many an hour cooking, but her biggest joy was taking care of her family.
Grateful for having shared her life are 3 children, Larry (special friend Gail) Bossman, Parker, Wayne (Jeanne) Bossman, Parker, and Marcia (Mark) Walter, Yankton; 6 grandchildren, Tom (Christy) Bossman, Steve (TammyJo) Bossman, Gaea (Mike) Noordsy, Lindsay (Sasha) Haleta, Katie Bossman, and Adam (special friend Alison Veldhouse) Walter, and 8 great grandchildren, Noelani and Margo Bossman, Tyler and Troy Smith, Ellia and Liam Noordsy, Priya and Miriam Konda; a brother-in-law Alfred Fischer; and 3 sisters-in-law, Lowane Bossman, Delores Otten, and Dianne Bossman. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Vernon.
