Dean Jorgensen

Dean Jorgensen, 83, died Wednesday, April 1, 2010 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the United Methodist Church, Parker with burial in the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday with family present from 7-8:00pm at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Dean Herbert Jorgensen was born on October 21, 1926 with his identical twin brother Dale near Viborg, SD to Fred and Anna (Mellegaard) Jorgensen. He was united in marriage to Virginia Highstreet in 1955. They farmed in the Spring Valley area before moving to Parker in 1960 where they raised their 7 boys. They built and operated the Parker Bowling Alley and he worked as a farm chemical operator for many years. His wife Virginia died in 1988. Grateful for having shared his life are six sons, Dan (Susan), Northfield, MN, Doug (Jane), Danville, IN, Jerry (JoAnn), Brookings, Rick (Brenda), Sioux Falls, Mike (Brenda), Parker, and Don (Darla), Sioux Falls; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his identical twin brother Dale (Irene), Viborg, sister Dorothy Allen, Hurley, and brother Gary (Edith), Hurley. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, son Terry, brothers Morris and Milton, and a sister Lorna.
